We’ve had a busy and creative week at Cheese and Wine Painting Club! With three consecutive days of live painting classes we called The Jamboree. Artists and now friends that met doing our online classes during lockdown and beyond got to meet in person! Special thanks go to Paola and Sally who came all the way from Italy to take part in the live events, having painted online with us for years. Here’s Paola making sure we didn’t run out of wine! Thanks Paola
Day 1 of the Jamboree, our monthly class in the Sir Richard Steele Pub, Belsize Park. We welcomed our painters to London with Monet’s view of the Houses of Parliament. Lots of us had only ever met online before, so it was great to finally meet and paint in person – it felt like a school reunion!
Day 2, after a trip to the Cezanne exhibition at the Tate for some inspiration, the evening’s class was at the Finchley Golf Club where our studio is based. We painted Monet again, this time a snow scene. Cheese, Wine and festive tunes were enjoyed!! I think there was some dancing!?
Day 3, Nine dedicated painters got to see behind the scenes of our regular Friday Facebook LIVE PaintOff. Joining us in the studio at Finchley Golf Club, they got to see how the weekly magic happens, painting a snowy Van Gogh scene. As always, the video is available for replay over on our Facebook page. Watch here to get your own sneak peek of the studio, and to see how we fit everyone in!
A Christmas joke from Jennie who was bringing the laughs in the studio during the Jamboree. - ready?… Q. Why shouldn’t you buy advent calendars…? A. Because their days are numbered!! uuuurgh! We ended the Jamboree on Friday night with a curry all together at Dar’s in Hampstead to thank everyone who joined us over the three days. Can’t wait for the next Jamboree. It’s open to everyone!! Get involved painting and making new friends.
This week we can look forward to our usual Friday Facebook LIVE – we’ll be painting this David Hockney Sunset. The Facebook LIVE’s are free with a £5 donation always appreciated so we can keep them running. If anyone missed out on our Jamboree group painting session and would like to come to see the studio, drop us a message and we’ll figure something out, you are welcome.

How lovely to meet up! Sorry I couldn’t make it because I was in London receiving best garden broadcast award for the GW prog I was involved with! (When you kindly painted my garden with the Friday group) See my Fb page for photos. However, I did manage to catch Covid while down there, so not sure I will be coming down again any time soon!
