Welcome to the NEW Cheese and Wine Painting Club Newsletter . We’ve migrated to Substack so that we can create better content and continue to build our already amazing community. Thank you so much for following and being a part of our journey so far. Who knew what would happen, when Daisy and I attempted a live broadcast on Facebook for the first time, at the beginning of lockdown?
Over 100 Facebook Live classes, and 50 Zoom classes later (access archive here), we now have over 10,000 followers on our Cheese and Wine Painting Club Facebook Page. Thanks so much for your continued support, see you on Friday for our next FREE online class – donations and ticket sales always hugely appreciated. Thank you!
The Cheese and Wine Painting Club hasn’t always been online. We started with live painting classes in pubs around London in 2014, and we’re still holding these events! Look out for our classes later this month. Some of the members of our online community are joining us to paint Monet at the Sir Richard Steele pub, on Wednesday 30th November at 7:30pm. There are still tickets available and it’s open to everyone. Always NO experience required. We call it the Jamboree, it’s like a school reunion – although most of these people have never met! Guaranteed fun, cheese, wine, and top tunes.
Finchley Golf Club has been the home of the Cheese and Wine Painting Club and Ed Sumner ART Studio for the past two years. It’s a beautiful venue in North London where we’re excited to be holding the second evening of the Jamboree on Thursday 1st December at 7:30pm. We’ll be painting Monet’s 1875 ‘View of Argenteuil in the Snow’. Maybe we will get some snow this winter? All of these events are open to the public and we hope to see you there. Book your ticket here.
Corporate events continue! If you have a team to entertain, we’re taking bookings now. Last week we took a road trip to Coventry to throw a painting party for the team at Relate, a mental health charity. You know you’re in for a good time when the organiser - who made it a surprise for the team - starts handing out 40 fake moustaches… we had a lot of fun, and thanks to Relate for booking us for the fourth time now! Congratulations to Debbie for being voted the best artist and winning a bottle of spiced rum. It’s virtually never a competition, but they insisted and chose with a democratic vote. Check out the Facebook group for some more pictures of the day.
Thanks very much to our top pals Alastair and Ana Leithead at Vale das Estrelas who recommended Substack to us. Last month we spent some time at their beautiful guesthouse in Portugal. We ran a special Cheese and Wine ‘Drawing’ Club from the beach. You can read a bit more about our time there on his blog - click here to read! Al’s blog is definitely worth subscribing to if you want to read about his fascinating life in Portugal. Once the lodges have been built, in around a year’s time, we’ll have our first ever Cheese and Wine Painting Club ‘ON TOUR’ Portuguese Painting Holiday.
Substack also allows us to use the convenient CHAT function if you’d like to send us a message, or talk to your fellow artists on here! At the moment this is only available on the iOS app version, so make sure you download Substack on your phone so we can chat. The Facebook group page is also always open for any pictures, comments or questions. Send us a message – looking forward to hearing from you!
ED SUMNER ART NEWS
Following on from success of the Affordable Art Fair, the next opportunity to see Ed Sumner’s newest paintings is at Primrose Hill Festival on Sunday 27th November. It’s always good fun, hoping to seeing many of you there for Ed’s art and a bit of celebrity spotting.
Next week, we’re holding a special Black Friday Facebook Live event, painting Picasso. Join the class to find out about our special Black Friday offers. We’re also booked for a private birthday party... The birthday boy is a dog named Freud, turning 1 - we’re painting him!! Expect some adorable pictures from the event.
